There are so many exciting changes we can implement where children's ideas about what makes a `special ' classroom to them should be considered . We should not assume what is appealing to us as adults is also appealing to children or what appeals to a girl will necessarily appeal to a boy . Shape, colour and texture can impact a child's perception and in turn their feelings about a learning space . I was also introduced to schools this week whose practises remind us of the importance of educating the whole person . They use space very differently both emotionally and physically and the children appear to thrive in environments that value heightened self responsibility and activities which try and prepare them for life outside of the four walls of a classroom and school .
